   The student who joins the Master's or PhD course in the Medicine Postgraduate, Area of ​​Concentration in Pathology, UFRJ, will be guided by a permanent faculty member of the Program, according to the Coordination of the courses. There may be a co-adviser if it is indispensable.

   The Academic Secretary of the Courses will register the disciplines and their schedules in an individual register, in order to evaluate the development of the students during the courses.

   To obtain the Master's degree, the candidate must have completed at least 20 credits of the compulsory disciplines and 4 credits of the complementary disciplines (optional), for a total minimum of 360 hours, and have written a Dissertation, with defense and presentation to a Board Examination, as part of the course completion work.

   To obtain the Doctor's degree, the candidate must have completed at least 20 credits of compulsory subjects and 10 credits of complementary subjects (optional), with a total minimum of 450 hours, and have elaborated a Thesis, with defense and presentation to a Board Examination, as part of the course completion work.

   The Master's course will last for a maximum of 24 (twenty-four) months and for a Doctoral Degree 36 (thirty-six) months, and may be extended for a further 6 (six) months, depending on the evaluation of the circumstances by the Program Coordination Committee.

   The Academic Council for Graduates (CEPG), a deliberative organ, is responsible for the didactic and pedagogical guidelines of the postgraduate courses.
